About This Video

In this livestream I’m talking through what the national ICE protests could mean for drone pilots right now, and why I think this is one of those weeks where you need to slow down and fly smart. I’m watching multiple live feeds (Minnesota, LA, Phoenix, Seattle, Denver) while answering Q&A, and I break down the big issue: the FAA has issued moving TFRs/NOTAMs tied to federal operations and convoys. The problem is these can impact where you fly (and how far/close you are), and they may not show up in your usual drone apps when you’re out in the field. My personal advice is simple: don’t take your drone anywhere near protests, and don’t put yourself into a situation where you’ve got goggles on and chaos around you. I’d rather be here making positive content for the hobby than getting pepper-sprayed or dealing with a drone seizure because I got too close to a federal operation. If you want to cover events, do it from the ground for now, and if you just want to fly for fun, get out of town—find a quiet field, a farmer’s property, or even an AMA field for some peace of mind. We’re taking this day by day, because the rules and enforcement climate can change fast.
