About This Video

In today’s video I’m looking at the new wave of dirt-cheap HD FPV options and why they might be coming for DJI’s lunch in 2026. With DJI sitting on the ban list for new drones and components coming into the US (as of January 2026), a lot of us are forced to think ahead and pick an HD system that’s actually going to be available. That’s where these budget HD VTX + camera combos come in—BetaFPV’s P1 at about $38 and the Caddx Ascent at about $36. Now, the elephant in the room is performance. These aren’t “DJI killer” systems on pure image quality and feel, but it depends on what you’re trying to do. I’ve been testing the BetaFPV P1 for recreational flying and backyard freestyle, and it’s been working out—just know it’s around 60ms latency, so it’s not the move for serious analog racers. The Caddx Ascent is quicker at roughly 30ms and is also super light. The bigger takeaway is accessibility. Analog is still king because it’s cheap, and DJI has never been accessible for everyone. If HD starts showing up at $36–$40, that’s a great direction for the FPV community—especially when DJI Lite is more expensive and may go out of stock as DJI moves on to the next model.
