About This Video

In this video I’m doing an honest bench review of iFlight’s new Commando 14 GemX 1W ELRS radio. This is a big deal because iFlight hasn’t had a full-size/midsize “flagship” radio until this year, so now it’s stepping into the ring with stuff like the Radiomaster TX15/TX16S Mk3, the Boxer, and the Jumper T15 Pro. I walk through what you’re getting for the $339 price tag: a 4.3-inch touchscreen, CNC Hall gimbals that feel tighter than my T15 Pro, fold-down dual-band antennas (2.4 + 900), and an internal ELRS module that’ll push up to 1 watt. My favorite feature is the tiny secondary screen in the middle. It’s not just a gimmick—I can actually navigate ELRS settings right there (packet rate, power, Gemini/single band, etc.) without digging through menus, and it shows useful stuff like Hz, telemetry ratio, and current power output. I also talk about the built-in 3S 5000mAh battery with PD 3.0 USB-C quick charge (about 80% in ~an hour) and why that’s either going to be a love-it or hate-it thing. I also hit the downsides: the case could use more room, the side grips aren’t very grippy, and the radio doesn’t sit super stable on the bench because of the narrow feet and curved bottom. Overall though, if you want something different than Radiomaster/Jumper, this is a solid bet—and it’s fighting to become my daily driver.
