About This Video

DJI is suing the US government, and in this video I break down what’s happening now that DJI has filed a federal lawsuit against the FCC over the US DJI drone ban. Back in December 2025 the FCC put DJI on the “covered list,” and that’s the big issue: you can still own and fly your current DJI drones, but new DJI models can’t get FCC authorization. That means no new approvals, no new product releases, and it effectively blocks future DJI launches in the US market. From DJI’s side, they’re saying the FCC acted without presenting evidence that DJI drones are a national security threat. DJI argues there was no due process, that lawful commerce is being blocked, and that US consumers and public safety agencies are being harmed. They also claim they repeatedly asked for a formal security review and audit, but never got a completed evaluation before the ban hit on December 22nd. I also talk about what this means going forward: if the FCC decision stands, future DJI consumer and enterprise drones—and even parts for repairs—could be permanently blocked, and DJI Care has been canceled for US owners. This case is bigger than DJI, because it could define how regulators restrict foreign tech companies under “national security,” and it could reshape the US drone market in 2026 and beyond.
