Winter in Michigan means snow, cold temps… and riding on pause. So instead of riding, I built what might be the perfect winter commuter using nothing but scrap parts, leftover components, and a few creative solutions. This 1991 Giant Rincon has been through builds before, but this time it became a true parts-bin ATB — complete with fenders, a DIY front basket, a kickstand, and a surprisingly smooth drivetrain setup. Even better… the parts I expected to give me trouble (fenders, fat tires, and a Rapid Rise derailleur) all worked out. The parts I thought would be easy? Not so much. This video is a full ASMR-style bike build — minimal talking, just tools, clicks, and progress — turning a pile of random parts into a practical winter-ready commuter. At the end, I take it out for a quick ride… and now I want to hear from you: 👇 What are you building this winter to keep the wheels turning? Parts-bin build? Tune-up project? Something totally different? 🔧 Build Highlights Frame: 1991 Giant Rincon (steel) Drivetrain: 1×7 (42T / 14–36 freewheel) Derailleur: Rapid Rise (reverse spring) Wheels: Trash-day find (single-wall) Tires: Fat slicks (~2.1–2.3”) Accessories: DIY front basket, fenders, kickstand #BikeBuild, #WinterCommuter, #ATB, #PartsBinBike, #DIYBike, #VintageMTB, #GiantRincon, #BikeRestoration, #BikeMechanic, #TrashToTreasure, #BudgetBuild, #CyclingLife ************************************************************************* I only recommend items I actually OWN and use.
