About This Video

In this live beat making marathon, I’m doing what I said I was gonna do: 12 beats to finish the 100 beat challenge and get this thing over with. I’m moving slower on purpose because it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and my goal was to be done before midnight. You’re basically watching me sketch ideas in real time, bounce between vibes (hip-hop, R&B, a little “try something different”), and keep the momentum going even when the creative “monsters” start hanging around. A big part of this stream is workflow and reality. I’m working in MPC (MPC Software 3.6) because I do like the hardware feel, and I’m using stock sounds when they work—because sometimes you just gotta use stock sounds. I also talk about “labbing,” which is really just practicing the craft when nobody’s watching… except in this case, it’s public, so it’s a different kind of pressure. I get into the sampling/copyright headache too—how content ID makes live sampling creatively stifling—plus why I end up switching back to FL Studio when the MPC software starts acting up with OBS. The takeaway: keep making tracks, don’t overthink who’s gonna like it, and protect your energy so you can actually grow.
