About This Video

In this episode of my “web dev reacts to incredible websites” series, I’m basically trying not to melt into my chair from portfolio shame while we review some next-level personal sites. I kick it off with Sean Halpin’s portfolio and immediately get distracted (in the best way) by a little eye that follows my cursor. The whole site is super minimal, gives you just enough to stay intrigued, and then he casually drops a “Sean bot” chat experience, which is such a clean way to make contact feel more personal. Then we jump into Legwork Studio’s site, which is built around draggable cards like “creativity, originality, fortitude.” It’s one of those interactions that could easily break on mobile, so of course I test it—and it actually holds up. After that, we hit pleaseleaveon.com, which turns the portfolio into a narrated, playful journey (slightly creepy in a “come to my office” way, but still very memorable), and I accidentally uncover an Easter egg that links to Patrick Lo’s comic-style site with a perspective/parallax vibe. Finally, lynnandtonic.com absolutely breaks my brain: the whole storyline changes when you resize the browser. It’s not your typical “here’s my resume” portfolio—it’s more like “look how insanely good I am,” and honestly… fair. Takeaway: interaction, restraint, and surprising moments can sell your skills way harder than a wall of text.
