In this video, I take you along to the Kenny Rodgers Memorial archery competition, where I shoot my compound bow in my 3rd ever competition. This is all part of my journey learning compound archery, coming from a recurve background and trying to improve under real competition pressure. I show my shooting, talk through how the day went, and share my thoughts on performance, consistency, and what I need to improve moving forward. Also where I actually finished. If you're getting into compound archery or thinking about shooting competitions, this gives you a real-world look at what it's like. About This Video

In this video I take you along to the Kenny Rogers Memorial Shoot down in Christchurch—my 3rd ever compound competition, coming from a recurve background and still very much learning under proper pressure. I also explain who Kenny Rogers actually was (no, not the singer): by the looks of it he was basically “Mr Archery” for Christchurch Archery Club, gave a heap of time to the sport, and racked up records across different bow types. Massive thanks to the club for hosting it—awesome people and a bloody good weekend. Day one was a WA 1440 across 70m, 60m (122cm face), then 50m and 30m on the 80cm half faces. The weather was unreal—hot, sunny, and basically no wind—and I shot a 1325, which is my first time over 1300 on compound (and only my second ever 1440 with it). Day two was two 720s, where I started slow (as usual on a Sunday morning), had a couple of frustrating misses onto the wrong face, and noticed a left-right drift that I’m pretty sure came down to setup/hand pressure. Even so, I ended up taking gold in Masters Compound Men, and I walk through what I think I need to tighten up next to keep building consistency.
