Pre-Competition Practice | 36 Arrows at 30m on 80cm Face, with My Compound Bow

In this week’s video, I take my compound bow to 30 meters and shoot a full 36-arrow scoring round on an 80 cm target face — exactly what I’ll be shooting in my upcoming archery competition. I score each of the six ends to see how my consistency and accuracy are holding up at this distance. This is part of my ongoing competition preparation series, where I focus on real-world practice rounds that simulate tournament conditions. If you’re a compound shooter or getting ready for your next event, this kind of structured practice is a great way to measure your progress and dial in your setup. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to follow my archery journey! 📌 Subscribe to follow my journey into compound archery and all things target shooting. 👍 Like & comment if you’ve made the switch before or have tips for new compound archers! 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more archery reviews, tutorials, and test rounds! 👉 If you enjoyed this video, don't forget to: 👍 Like the video to support the channel 💬 Leave a comment with your tips or experiences 🔔 Subscribe and turn on notifications to never miss an update Let’s grow together as better archers! 🏹 👉 Follow us on social media for updates: If you're an archer looking to take your shooting game to the next level, this review is for you! 🏹 Don’t forget to like, share, and follow for more archery gear reviews, tips, and shooting techniques! About This Video

Saturday morning in the Brook Valley and the plan was to head to the club… until the rain dumped down and the place shut. So I switched it up and ran a proper pre-comp practice round at home: 30m, 80cm face, six ends of six arrows—exactly what I’ll be shooting at 30m in the 1440 (for me that’s 70/60/50/30, with the 50 and 30 on the 80cm). I had the cameras rolling, the chickens making noise behind me, and I shot it like a scoring round to get a real baseline with three weeks to go. I’ll be honest—I initially forgot the usual two sighter ends, so I called the first two ends my warm-up and started scoring properly after that. I could feel when shots were bad (holding low, moving too much), and the humid, wet weather had my glasses steaming up which didn’t help. Even so, this was only my second time shooting 30m on an 80cm face and I actually find the smaller target helps me concentrate harder. End result: 338 for my first ever compound 30m round (36 arrows) and I’m blown away. There’s still work to do—clean up that ugly 53 end, build strength, and I’ll likely twist my peep a fraction more—but this is exactly why I like structured, tournament-style practice: it shows you what’s solid and what needs fixing.
