About This Video

In this video I lay out my realistic 2026 archery competition plan—no hype, just what I can actually fit around work, the wife, and life. I’m committing to shooting my Topoint Reliance 38 compound for the season, and I talk through why I’ve chosen three events (and why I’m not trying to cram in a million more). Shooting comps here takes a whole weekend, sometimes a long weekend, so the plan has to be doable or it falls over fast. First up is the New Zealand Masters Games in Dunedin in February, which is a big trip from the top of the South Island—about a 10-hour drive non-stop—so we’re making it a proper roadie with stops. I explain the format too: a “creeping round” on day one with multiple distances, then a fun, made-up round on day two where the scoring changes end-to-end. After that I’m locked in for the Kenny Rogers Memorial Shoot in Christchurch in March (1440 day one, then two 720s), and later in the year I’ll be back for the Neroli Fairhall Shoot in October with the same 1440 + 2x720 setup. I also share where my shooting’s at right now—daily reps, 30m practice, club days at 50/70m, and a recent 720 PB of 645 after about six months on compound. The big takeaway: set goals you can actually train for, keep the reps honest, and don’t burn yourself out trying to do everything.
