This week’s video takes you behind the scenes of our Masters Archery Competition at the local club — a full two-day event focused on experienced archers, good competition, and even better atmosphere. I cover why we decided to run a Masters competition, what it means for the archery community, and of course plenty of real-world shooting across both days. From focused scoring rounds to relaxed moments between ends, this event was about celebrating experience, consistency, and the love of the sport — without taking ourselves too seriously. You’ll see: Shooting across both competition days The purpose behind the Masters event The atmosphere and club culture The social side of archery done right This wasn’t about chasing medals at all costs — it was about good shooting, good people, and keeping the traditions of competitive archery alive. And yes, we still had a laugh along the way. Archery doesn’t have to be miserable to be serious. If you enjoy realistic competition coverage and genuine club-level archery, this one’s for you. 👉 If you enjoyed this video, don't forget to: 👍 Like the video to support the channel 💬 Leave a comment with your tips or experiences 🔔 Subscribe and turn on notifications to never miss an update Let’s grow together as better archers! 🏹 👉 Follow us on social media for updates: If you're an archer looking to take your shooting game to the next level, this review is for you! 🏹 Don’t forget to like, share, and follow for more archery gear reviews, tips, and shooting techniques! About This Video

This week I’m taking you behind the scenes of a little two-day “mini Masters” competition we ran at my local club here in Nelson, New Zealand. The South Island Masters Games archery side didn’t happen the way it should’ve (a bit of miscommunication and the event shifting around), so instead of just moaning about it, we decided to run our own weekend. We had archers come up from Christchurch to support it, we shot on our range on council land, and even with a proper five-minute downpour right before we started (and some very gusty wind after), it turned into a cracking weekend. Day one was a 720-style round with different bow types and age groups. I shot compound at 45m on an 80cm target, and we split groups across compound, recurve, and longbow/barebow. Day two was a 36-arrow shoot followed by match play, and we purposely made it a bit different—sets for compound first (because I like that one bad arrow doesn’t instantly end your day), then cumulative scoring as well. The big takeaway for me is that serious shooting doesn’t need miserable vibes: good competition, a barbecue, a laugh, and a solid club atmosphere is exactly what keeps archery traditions alive.
