About This Video

On a brisk summer morning here in New Zealand, I’m doing a proper six-month, real-world review of my BCE Targets target butt—because this thing hasn’t lived a pampered life. I’ve been shooting it virtually every day with my compound (around 56–60lb), and I’m talking 60–72 arrows a day. That adds up to thousands of shots, including skinny arrows (3.2mm ID) that penetrate more than my fatter setups. This video is me showing you the actual condition, the wear, and what it’s like to shoot into after serious use. I bought this myself (not sponsored) because targets in NZ can be bloody expensive—some were looking like $800–$1,500 NZD before transport. I found BCE Targets in Australia, got a workable freight quote, and went for the butt with replaceable cores (12 cores), plus World Archery and Vegas face options. The big takeaway: it’s dense, it self-heals pretty well, and I didn’t get my first pass-through until about six months in on one core. I just swapped that core around and carried on. If you’re shooting high volume, especially compound, this is the kind of long-term durability I actually want—just remember to use arrow lube, because pulling arrows can be tough.
