Prime NY Strips! My Weekend Secret Cook! Grillaholics New Rubs!

See how I do steaks on multiple grills! Rec Tec 380 for the reverse and the Kamado Joe Big Joe with Soapstone for the sear! Used Grillaholics new SPG rubs! • Started with four nice prime NY Strips. • Coated the Strips 3 hours before the grill. We did 2 with SPG and 2 with SPG Twisted Butter. • Set up the Rec Tec 380 with a drip pan. Running at 250 degrees. • Placed the 4 strips on the 380 until they reached around 70 degrees and then turned them over to promote even cooking until 100. • Pulled them off and moved over to the Kamado Joe. We had the KJ running around 525 degrees to get the soapstone up in the 550 degree area. • Seared on the soapstone for 1 minute each side and then 30 more seconds each side and removed them. We verified the temps with our ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 instant read. • Let them rest for about 10 to 15 minutes before cutting into them. Summary: This was my secret into how I do steaks on the weekend when it is just for my wife or a gathering. Since I have multiple grills, I can get a few out to make the cooking go faster without waiting for the same grill to get to temp for searing. This also helps when we get that magical question on every cook. “How Long” Once I am ready for the sear, I know it will be about 15 or 20 minutes until the steaks are ready to go. The Grillaholics Rubs are really good. The SPG had perfect flavor and I noticed the pepper, but that is how I like it. The SPG twisted had a real balanced flavor with the butter coming through.
