About This Video

The idea of an Nvidia CPU isn’t technically new, but in this video I’m talking about the part that actually matters for most of us: Nvidia finally pushing something “CPU-like” onto the consumer side. The leak is pointing to Nvidia working on ARM-based laptop SoCs called the N1 and N1X—single chips that roll the CPU, GPU, chipset, basically the whole platform into one package. So no, it’s not x86, and it’s not going to drop into your desktop PC. This is a laptop play. What makes this interesting (and potentially a big deal) is the competition. These N1/N1X parts would go up against Snapdragon-style ARM laptops, but Nvidia’s advantage is obvious: they can bring Blackwell GPU cores along for the ride. We already know what Blackwell can do in desktop cards and discrete laptop GPUs, so the real question is how that translates to an integrated solution inside a thin-and-light. And the timing sounds soon too—OEMs like HP and Lenovo are reportedly lining up first SKUs for later this year, so we shouldn’t have to wait long to see whether this is hype or actually worth your money.
