The GPU shortages are getting so bad, that Nvidia have brought Samsung back to restart production of the RTX 3060! But which RTX 3060? About This Video

What’s the solution to the current GPU shortages? Apparently: dig up a card that should’ve stayed in 2021. In this video I talk about the rumor that Nvidia and Samsung are teaming up again to restart production of the RTX 3060 to relieve pressure on the graphics card market—because a bunch of current-gen production is getting squeezed, and yes, a lot of that pressure is coming from AI. I break down why the 3060 specifically makes sense for Nvidia to revive. Unlike the 40/50 series on TSMC’s 4nm, the RTX 30 series was built on Samsung’s 8nm node, which is simply less in-demand right now. It also uses older GDDR6 memory instead of GDDR6X or GDDR7, which makes sourcing and manufacturing easier. The catch is: “RTX 3060” isn’t one single card—there were five variants—so we don’t yet know which one comes back. I’d obviously hope for the 12GB model, but I’m not exactly betting on Nvidia being that benevolent. If it lands as early as mid-March (which is… basically now), the real question is whether you’d actually buy an older-gen 3060 in 2026 pricing conditions, or just wait for stock and prices to normalize.
