Intel Arrow Lake, better known as Intel Core Ultra 200 series, already wasn't the most Earth-shattering, but it looks like the next generation of Intel CPUs will be even less so, given how they will just be an Intel Arrow Lake refresh! They won't even be called Intel Core Ultra 300! About This Video

In this video I talk about Intel’s Arrow Lake refresh showing up in the most Intel way possible: not a new “wow” generation, not even a Core Ultra 300 series—just two new “Plus” SKUs dropped into the existing stack. Going in, I fully expected a mess because the leaks basically screamed “no core increases, nothing meaningful,” maybe just slightly better binning and a better NPU/MPU for the people who actually care about that. And yeah… it’s literally two CPUs. But the twist is they’re actually a pretty decent deal, at least by Intel’s standards this generation. The new chips are the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, and they’re positioned to make the nearest existing parts feel kind of pointless. The 250K Plus brings a few extra cores versus the 245K, is a bit faster overall, and is over $100 cheaper. The 270K Plus adds four more efficiency cores versus the 265K, is faster across the board, and lands around $300. I also touch on memory support being faster—cool in theory—except the memory market is an absolute joke right now and those kits cost an arm and a leg. And when you compare to AMD, the value story still gets complicated: X3D is a monster for gaming, and AM5 has more runway, while Intel buyers are staring down yet another new motherboard later.
