Sapporo honestly blindsided me on this Japan trip — it ended up being my favourite city, purely because the vibes feel different to the usual big three (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka). In this vlog I’m just out and about with friends, doing the simple stuff: late “breakfast” at like 2pm, trying a sushi set, and talking about how food here feels way cheaper than Melbourne (Melbourne would charge double, easy). I also randomly discovered a sweet potato snack that looked pretty and tasted way better than I expected. We hit up Otaru Canal and it was bloody cold, but still so worth it for the scenery. I also tried a drink that was basically just hot water — genuinely do not recommend. Later on we head to GiGO arcade, then I duck back to the hotel to deal with laundry (very glamorous travel content), before going back out because it’s freezing and ramen alley is the move. Ramen-wise, my standout was a shio (salt) scallop-based ramen — the umami was insane — while the miso was solid but a bit strong. The day wraps with more snow, massive loud Japanese crows, and plans to go eat Genghis Khan (lamb) because that’s what you do in Sapporo.
