This is how I spent my last full day here in Japan :( Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and that includes this trip. A lot of anticipatory nostalgia in the last few days of the trip. I can't wait to be back. About This Video

Today was my last full day in Tokyo before flying back to Melbourne, and honestly the last few days had been pretty repetitive—in the best way. A lot of eating, a lot of drinking, hanging with the boys, looking at Pokémon cards, and doing way too much shopping. But because it’s the final stretch of the trip, I wanted to do something a bit more for myself and lean into the stuff I’m actually obsessed with: architecture and design. I started the day at the National Art Center Tokyo to see the building (and that famous inverted café vibe), then grabbed an iced oat milk latte from Blue Bottle. After that I headed to 21_21 Design Sight—an architecture/design-focused museum space designed by Tadao Ando, whose minimal, clean-line concrete style is completely up my alley. The exhibition had works from big names like Issey Miyake and Dieter Rams, and I loved how the building interacts with light as the day changes. I wrapped things up with a really good (but kinda expensive) meal, then wandered through autumn streets that were genuinely stunning—this might be my favorite season in Japan so far. Later I hit Ameyoko in Ueno to find souvenirs for my parents (dried scallop mission), packed up my two suitcases (Snow Peak cushions take up insane space), and ended the night feeling that anticipatory nostalgia… already wanting to come back.
