About This Video

Today’s vlog is basically a pretty typical Wednesday for me as a software engineer in Melbourne—except it’s one of those long ones. It was chilly so I was in the hoodie + beanie kind of situation, and I walked you through what my 9–5 looks like working full-time at a retail/supermarket company with an online presence. I’m mostly WFH, and I usually start around 9-ish depending on when I wake up, then ease into the day with admin stuff like Confluence docs, checking JIRA tickets, and meetings (daily stand-up included) before I get into heavier coding. I also shared a bit of my actual tech stack and background: I’m a full stack dev working mainly with .NET and React TypeScript, plus bits and pieces like Azure/Google for DevOps. The funny part is I didn’t study software engineering—I did Mechanical Engineering—and I joined with basically zero IT experience as a graduate. On top of that, I had a knee scrape from volleyball so I skipped the gym, made wonton noodles for lunch (the noodles were cooked better this time), and took Charlie for a walk. Then we ended the day with a midnight production release, which went smooth (thankfully), and I finally got to sleep.
