About This Video

This Tokyo vlog was basically 72 hours of running around in the rain, shopping way too much, and then rewarding myself with some of the best drip coffee I’ve ever had. We started with a night of shopping where I didn’t film much because it was pouring and our umbrella literally gave up. I also picked up a new lens—the Tamron 20–40mm f/2.8—which I’m filming on in this video. I’d been using my 17–28mm for the past few weeks, and it’s solid, but the focal length felt a bit limiting. The extra reach on 20–40 makes it way more versatile for vlogging. From there it was a lot of the usual Tokyo hits: Uniqlo pickups, a quiet coffee break at Unico Coffee (the upstairs area is so chill), and then Harajuku because our Kamakura/Enoshima day trip got cancelled thanks to the weather. We also got glasses made at JINS in like half an hour, which is still crazy to me. The highlight though was Koffee Mameya. If you’re into drip coffee, you have to try it. They go super deep on the details—grind, ratio, timing (they even broke it into pours)—and I didn’t realize how insightful it would be until we sat down and they walked us through everything.
