About This Video

If you’re here, it’s because you have my hair type and you’re trying to figure out the perfect wash and go—so I got you. In this video I walk you through my beginner-friendly 4B/4C wash and go starting on freshly washed hair, because that’s non-negotiable for definition. I’m using The Doux Big Poppa gel, and I show you exactly how I apply it with the raking method in small sections so the product is really in there and evenly distributed. I also go back and finger coil a few pieces when I want a little extra definition. I also talk about what not to do: don’t oversaturate your hair, because that’s how you end up with product build-up and flakes once everything dries (and trust, you don’t want that). When I get to the front, I decide my part early—because once it’s dry, changing the style is hard. After styling, I like to air dry a bit to keep my roots from getting puffy, but if I’m in a hurry I diffuse my roots. Then, when my hair is almost dry, I stretch it with the RevAir (optional) to get length without going crazy on heat. I finish by tying my hair up for sleep, and the next day I’m left with movement, no flakes, and definition.
