About This Video

It’s a new year, so I had to start with a fully detailed wash day for my 4C/4B low porosity, high density hair—especially because winter means my hair needs love, love, love moisture and heavier products. In this video I walk you through my exact routine from start to finish, and I’m super beginner-friendly with it. I start with a hydrating hair mask (I used the Ouai hair mask) and I work in small sections because I want every single strand to actually get coated. Then I tried steaming my hair for the first time and… girl, I’m keeping it in my routine. I used the Pattern Beauty hair steamer and it was literally gliding through my hair, making detangling so much easier and leaving my hair feeling soft and moisturized. After I rinse, I go into my wash routine with TGIN shampoo + conditioner, and depending on how dirty my hair feels I’ll do 2–3 rounds of shampoo. I also use a scalp massager for relief. I ended up taking it a step further and turning it into a wash and go. I used Extreme gel and the raking method for definition (it’s more time-consuming, but it gives me the best coils). I diffuse without over-manipulating, then I stretch my roots with a blow dryer (I used my Shark) for more bounce, volume, and length.
