In this kiln reveal (#5) from 11/13/24, I’m unloading a fresh load that’s very much in the “trying to prep for holiday markets…but commissions come first” era of my studio life. I’m sharing what came out, what I’m counting as practice pieces, and how I’m balancing making what I want to stock with making what people specifically asked for. If you’re into cozy studio routines, kiln reveals, and the real-life pacing of running a small pottery business, this one is exactly that. A big theme in this unload is commissions that are a little outside my usual lane—like sports mugs. Don’t expect me to suddenly become the Green Bay Packers mug girl (I’m a Vikings person, okay), but I’ll admit…they were kind of fun to make. I also talk through the mindset shift of making work on a deadline, how I’m planning for upcoming sales, and what I’m learning as I keep building my inventory in my New Mexico backyard studio.
