Welcome back to Kiln Reveal #4—aka my favorite kind of studio day where I get to crack open the kiln and see what actually survived the process. This load is packed with ceramic cats and kittens (as per usual), plus a few other little creatures that made their way in. The big debut in this reveal is my pug mug design, and I’m honestly so excited to see it in real life after all the work that happens before the kiln ever turns on. I also share the not-so-glam side of a kiln opening: a few “cat butt chunks,” some pieces that didn’t turn out the way I hoped, and that slight disappointment that comes with pottery sometimes—because you really don’t know until it’s cooled and you’re lifting the lid.
