About This Video

In this video, I’m trying and reviewing the Rhode Peptide Lip Boost ($23) over about 1–2 weeks to see how it actually wears and whether the “plumping” claim feels real. I wasn’t a big fan of Rhode’s original lip balm (I didn’t find it very hydrating), but I was genuinely excited for this launch because it’s positioned more like a thick, nourishing lip treatment. I walk through the basics—vegan, cruelty-free, alcohol-free, recyclable packaging, and a fragrance-free option—plus the highlighted ingredients like a multi-peptide blend, a hyaluronic acid complex, olive oil butter, amino acids, and ceramides. When I first apply it, the texture is immediately thicker and richer than the original Rhode balm, and I love that. I chose the spearmint flavor, and it gives that clean minty feel without being overly glossy or super sticky—more balmy, with a slight lip-mask tack that helps it last. Over time, I noticed the “plumping” is more of a gradual, hydration-driven effect rather than an instant sting-plump. My final take: I really like the feel, finish, and mint flavor, but I don’t think the price is justified for what it delivers. If you want instant plumping, I’d point you to the Chaddy Matte Lip Plumper. If you want a similar thick, nourishing vibe with better value, Topicals Slick Salve (mint) is the closest match I’d personally choose instead.
