In this video I tested Peach & Lily’s two new sunscreen launches: the Sun Cover Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 and the Beam Blocker Invisible (chemical) Sunscreen SPF 30—both $34. I actually like that they released two formulas because mineral isn’t universal and chemical can work better for some people’s skin. Both are vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and come in recyclable packaging, and I focused on finish, feel, and how they wore on my acne-prone skin over about 1–2 weeks. The mineral sunscreen surprised me in a good way. For an American mineral SPF, it felt more lightweight than I expected, had a light neutral/yellowy tint to help offset white cast, and didn’t look too crazy on me even at a full 1/4 teaspoon (I even tested it with facial hair to see if it would collect). It did act a little “weird” when rubbing in—like it could potentially peel—but overall it gave a fairly neutral finish and felt almost like a chemical sunscreen. The chemical sunscreen, though… I’m ruling it out. It burned my eyes, felt greasy, and at this price point with only SPF 30, it just doesn’t compete with options I already love. If you want a chemical sunscreen, I’d still tell you to go for the Byoma Ultra-Light SPF 50, and for tinted mineral with a wider range, Live Tinted is still the better bet.
