About This Video

In this video, I’m trying and reviewing the Banu Dark Spot Milky Serum, which is a $54 dark spot treatment that really caught my attention because Banu’s simple-but-effective formulas have worked for my acne-prone skin in the past (their acne treatment serum is still the best one I’ve used). This is also Banu’s first new launch since their original base skincare product, so I wanted to spend a little extra time with it (about 1–2 weeks) and focus on the basics: how it feels, what finish it leaves, whether it causes sensitivity, and if I notice any early benefits. Texture-wise, it’s exactly what the name says: a lightweight, milky serum that almost feels like a watery milky toner, just a bit thicker. It pats in fast, feels super refreshing, and leaves my skin with a nice radiant finish without feeling heavy. I liked that it takes a moisturizing approach while still using proven brightening ingredients (3% tranexamic acid, 2% alpha arbutin, and 2% niacinamide), and I didn’t experience sensitivity while testing. My final take: it’s a gentle, simple, effective dark spot serum—but the price is the problem. For my skin concerns, I’d still tell you to try the Peach Slices Discoloration Serum first (it’s $12 and I’ve had better overall benefits with it). If that doesn’t give you what you want, then sure, consider Banu, but I personally don’t see myself repurchasing it.
