About This Video

In this video I tested the Beauty of Joseon Revive Firming Moisturizer ($24) over about 1–2 weeks and focused on how it performs as a moisturizer and as a gentle retinol-style treatment. I was really excited going in because I’m a huge fan of their Revive Eye Serum, and this moisturizer is in the same collection—except this one uses retinol (not retinal), which I honestly wish they would’ve chosen for a more innovative formula. I also called out the brand claims: vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and recyclable packaging, plus their ginseng-ceramide complex and fermented retinol. Texture-wise, I actually enjoyed it at first. It’s creamy but lightweight, almost like a water-gel, and it blends in fast without feeling greasy or heavy. For my skin, though, it didn’t feel substantial enough to be a final-step moisturizer, so I used it at night more like a gentle treatment. The biggest takeaway: it caused pretty bad acne for me. Once I stopped using it, the consistent breakouts stopped, so I can’t personally recommend it for acne-prone skin. I also share alternatives I’d pick instead—Good Molecules for a beginner-friendly retinol cream, or Geek & Gorgeous A-Game 10 and Prequel Retinal Renew if you want retinaldehyde options I tend to prefer.
