About This Video

In this video I’m sharing what’s in my son Samuel’s morning basket (he’s three), and how I’m using it in our home. A “morning basket” is an idea I’ve seen circulating on YouTube, mainly from homeschooling families. We’re not homeschooling right now because Samuel is still little and we haven’t decided for the future, but I loved the concept: it’s a simple way to ease into the day and make sure the “extras” you really value don’t get missed. For us, the morning basket is where I keep things that might not get done otherwise—especially more sit-down, book-based bits alongside our play-based learning. It’s completely child-led: Samuel doesn’t do everything every day, and some days he’ll do loads while other days he’ll only choose one thing (and that’s totally fine). I keep our devotionals in there because we’re a Christian family and I want to start our mornings with that when we can. I also include a feelings chart, weather and seasons prompts, a Peppa Pig magazine with stickers, simple counting resources, a really lovely outdoors picture book I don’t leave out, and a little song notebook so I can teach him new songs with actions.
