I finally sat down and made an update video for ZaneyOS 2.2… and also for me, because yeah, it’s been a minute. I’ve had a lot going on: I’ve been building custom keyboards, and I also ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis caused by a gallstone, so they straight up yanked my gallbladder out. I’m home now, off the pain meds, doing fine—just rocking some bruises and healing up while I get back into the groove. On the ZaneyOS side, 2.2 is a pretty massive improvement pass. I did a completely fresh install and rebuilt from there, with the whole point still being the same: it’s my NixOS + Hyprland setup, but packaged so you don’t have to start from scratch or dig through a million posts to get a good-looking, usable desktop. You’ll notice stuff immediately—Fastfetch replaces Neofetch (maintained, and it looks better), theming is now driven by the Styx module instead of nix-colors (image-based like pywal, but cleaner), and the install flow is way less annoying because the script actually builds the system for you with sane defaults. I also switched the default browser to Brave for better privacy (Firefox is still a toggle), aliased cat to bat for nicer output, moved the launcher back to Rofi, and tuned a bunch of little pain points—Steam included. The docs/wiki are updated, and I want you to explore and find the little improvements (and a couple Easter eggs).
