About This Video

Hey man—so this video is basically me popping back in after being gone “like forever” (yeah, my upload schedule has been terrible) and explaining what I’ve been doing instead of posting. Real life has been busy: family, friends, and a bunch of changes around the house. I also invested in fixing the content side—better lighting, a better workflow, and just a different attitude where I’m focusing more on quality instead of rushing stuff out. The big project is my new home-lab direction. I’m centralizing my computing and moving toward a more portable workstation setup. I grabbed a MacBook Pro because the battery life is insane and it’s just a better experience for stuff like DaVinci Resolve—plus it plays nice with my iPhone for notifications and productivity. On the server side, I’m running my big AMD box (Ryzen 5700G, 32GB RAM, 6600 XT, a ton of storage) with Jellyfin instead of Plex because it’s simpler and open source. I’ve got a ZanOS VM in the mix, I’m working toward GPU passthrough, and the plan is Steam game streaming to the MacBook, NFS for storage, and eventually things like Nextcloud. Overall: best of both worlds—Mac for editing, Linux/Unix open-source goodness for everything else—and I’m hyped to make more videos again.
