I kicked this stream off by finishing up my NixOS flake updates and making sure the repo is actually reproducible for other people. I copied over the new flake, cleaned up the README, and wrote out the steps (clone the repo, enable flakes, swap in the right hardware config, then rebuild). I also called out a big “gotcha” with my setup: if Hyprland updates but your desktop portal doesn’t, stuff can get weird—so I’m reminding you to run `nix flake update` and actually reboot when you change the pieces that need a restart. Then we got into the real point of the day: an afternoon of Generation Zero on NixOS. I’m looting like a gremlin, repairing my companion, crafting ammo, and doing missions/control points while getting absolutely humbled by my own driving and my own explosives. The game runs great on Linux through Proton, co-op is insanely fun, and the explosions are top-tier… but I did hit a couple of crashes that felt more like desktop-portal/Wayland weirdness than the game itself. I ended by fixing a couple README typos live and talking through how I write scripts in Nix (Nix → shell script style), before deciding I’ll probably do the wallpaper script off-camera because watching me dig through docs live is… not exactly thrilling.
