What you learn in this episode is how compounding works, I mean... what does it compound? Compounding is not driven by one big breakthrough. It is driven by two simple elements working together over time: marginal gain and repetition. Marginal gain comes from small improvements at each step of the system. A slightly better conversion. A shorter cycle time. A clearer handoff. On their own, these improvements look insignificant. But when actions are chained together, those small gains begin to compound. Repetition is the multiplier. On the left side of the bowtie, repetition happens through frequency. More attempts. More touches. More Meetings. More Calls, Emails etc.. More cycles compressed into shorter periods of time. Meetings, outreach, experiments, and decisions repeat rapidly. Learning accelerates because feedback arrives faster. On the right side of the bowtie (customer journey) , repetition happens not only through more frequency, but its effects additionally compound over time. E.g. the same customers renew. Usage repeats daily or weekly. They keep consuming more tokens. Expansion cycles recur predictably over months and years. Here, repetition may be slower, but it is far more durable. When marginal gains meet repetition, growth becomes multiplicative rather than additive. Small improvements no longer stay small. They stack. They reinforce each other. Over time, they reshape the trajectory of the entire system. This is why growth engines compound the way they do. Not because of one big lever, but because many small effects keep repeating inside a stable system. Most organizations are not set up to deal with this; they look for immediate impact next quarter, even if it comes at the cost of the compound engine. This is one of the key reasons we believe growth governance will be very influential going forward. The great news is that we can use AI to identify these gaps, where small gains matter, and where exactly they matter most. That is where we go next, and one of the most exciting episodes! --- Go deeper with Winning by Design: Join the Growth Institute Community for peer learning, live sessions, and practical GTM frameworks https://winningbydesign.com/growth-institute/ Learn how to design scalable revenue systems with the Growth Architecture™ Course https://winningbydesign.com/growth-architecture About Winning by Design: Winning by Design is the leading growth advisory firm for companies scaling recurring revenue.
