After almost a year of research on models and pricing, I narrowed it down to five main trailer styles: enclosed, skeleton, lay-flat, modified utility/landscaping, and foldable. I walk through why I eliminated each option (cost, storage, wheel size, versatility, and loading practicality) and why I landed on a foldable motorcycle trailer as the best compromise for my situation. The trailer I bought is the MCTD/Marlin foldable style. It gives me a small storage footprint in my garage, a sturdy design, adjustable wheel chocks, a full checker-plate deck I can actually walk on, and 14-inch aluminum wheels (a big deal if you care about highway speeds versus tiny 8-inch tires). I also cover the key specs like curb weight, GVWR, and what that means for real-world hauling. I’m also honest about what I don’t love: the ramp could be wider, and I wish it locked into the frame more securely. I show a few simple but important upgrades I did—anti-slip pads, reflective strips, and fixing galvanic corrosion issues by separating steel hardware from the aluminum deck.
