In this video I review the iHood heated jacket that showed up just in time for the colder days. I keep it straightforward: I run through the key specs (heating zones, temperature range, settings, washability) and then I actually take it outside to test it in real conditions—first around 6–7°C on the bike, and later on a trail when it dropped to about -1°C. What surprised me right away is how many heating elements this thing has: two in the front, one in the back, one around the neck, and even two inside the hood. On the motorcycle I learned fast that heated gear is all about layering—if you wear thick stuff like a sweater underneath, it takes longer to feel the heat. The sweet spot for me was a thin wicking base layer (like what I wear skiing), because you don’t want to sweat and then get cold. Even though it’s not a dedicated motorcycle jacket, I show you how I make it work by putting my armored riding jacket over top. My favorite feature is the high fleece-lined collar, because it helps a ton with that cold wind that sneaks behind your neck. I also go over waterproof material, battery life by setting, and how you can control different zones depending on what you’re doing.
