Hey guys, it’s Kayla Waller with Waller Adventures, and in this video I’m back in Ruskin, Florida for a two-day fall fishing trip on Tampa Bay with Captain Dave Dennison—this time with my dad along for the ride. I’ve fished with Captain Dave the last couple years, and he’s the kind of guide that keeps it fun and productive: if a spot isn’t biting, he’ll give it about 10–15 minutes and then move so you’re not wasting your trip just staring at lines. Day one was absolutely on fire. We bounced around mangrove-lined backwaters, canals, and open bay areas and caught a pile of fish—trout were thick, Spanish mackerel were ripping drag, and we mixed in snook, jack, ladyfish, and a few mangrove snapper too. We ended up with 74 fish total that day, and I even got to hold some really solid trout and mackerel for pictures (just keep your fingers away from those teeth). Day two was more “meh” because the wind picked up from a hurricane down by Jamaica, but we still managed to catch snook, a Spanish mackerel, and a redfish—which is my favorite fish to catch and eat. If you’re coming to the Ruskin/Tampa/St. Pete area and want a private charter where you actually learn and stay on the fish, Captain Dave is the real deal.
