Hey guys, it’s Halo Waller with Waller Adventures, and this one is a full 3-night camping trip at Tomoka State Park near Ormond Beach/Daytona. I roll in with the truck loaded down, get checked in, and we end up in campsite 12—big site, close to the water, and a whole lot of wind. We set camp under the awning just in time because the storms roll through hard that first night, so it’s a “make it work” kind of setup with wet gear, wet wood, and everything soaked by morning. Even with the rain, we still eat good and test gear. I heat up venison stew in the VASG heated lunchbox (yep, I finally brought it camping like I promised), and we fire up the Ogrey smokeless fire pit under the awning while we wait on food—just don’t put your face over it because it’ll pop and crackle. The next morning I do a quick bathhouse check, make coffee with my Joulle kettle, and we cook up pancakes and eggs before we start meandering around the park. We also hit the Tomoka Outpost (no filming inside), grab some Cajun boiled peanuts that’ll burn your mouth out, and check out the river info and boat ramp. The big takeaway for me is the history here—Timucua life, fishing and shellfish, and that massive Chief Tomokie statue overlooking the water. Between the river views, the programs building events, and the fishing/kayak vibe, Tomoka is a solid Florida state park camping spot.
