Morning, y’all—I literally just woke up out at Rainbow Springs State Park, and the first thing I did was a good ol’ bathroom check. I show you the bathhouse that’s closest to our site (spot 34), including the family bathroom I used to shower, the sinks, benches, and how everything’s laid out. After that, we get coffee going (in our Waller Adventures cups) and make an easy campsite breakfast with strudels in the pie iron—pro tip: if it gets cold at night, set that cast iron in the sun or by the fire to warm it up. Then I test out a compact handheld saw that Masio sent me. I cut a solid piece of wood in half and give you my honest take: it’ll do the job, but I’d mainly use it for off-grid camping when you need to trim branches—not in a state park. After breakfast, we haul the kayak down using the little cart system and get on the water. I also share what I learned at the gift shop about why manatees don’t come up in there (there’s a dam) and how gators are rare. We paddle into some really cool little coves, point out KP Hole County Park as another public launch option, and I wrap it up with my overall campground review. I give Rainbow Springs a 10/10 (Audrey gives it an 11). The sites are spaced out with trees for privacy, you can swim here, and it’s just an awesome Florida camping and kayaking spot.
