Heyo, I’m Will, and in this speedpaint + commentary I redesign three of my all-time fave Owl House characters in my own style: Luz, Eda, and Amity. I walk through the actual character design thinking while I draw in Procreate—what I keep from the original silhouettes and faces so they still read as the same character, and what I push to make the designs feel more like “me.” With Luz, I focused on keeping her excited eyes and recognizable vibe, then played with curlier hair, stronger outfit shapes, and a little Good Witch Azura star motif that pops up again later. Also yes: the one-boot-one-croc situation is canon-ish and I will defend it. For Eda, I leaned into “bad girl coven” energy: a buffier body type, big fluffy hair with braids, and (sorry not sorry) a blazer because I love suits. I also designed around her curse—feathers, dark magic weirdness, stripes up the arm, and nails that go sharp when it flares. Then for Amity, I gave her two looks for plot reasons: one suffocating, rich-and-perfect Odalia-approved outfit, and one softer witchy look for when she starts prioritizing her own happiness. Along the way I rant about uniforms, track colors, expression design, and how I absolutely go overboard with shading.
