I’m a massive movie and TV show fan, and I’m already paying for the big hitters like Disney Plus, Amazon Prime and Netflix. But with the cost of living going up, I started asking the obvious question: can I ditch one paid subscription (for me, Netflix) and replace it with something completely free? In this video I rank three genuinely free streaming platforms you can use across devices, and I focus mainly on on-demand because that’s where it stays “properly free” without getting into UK TV licence complications. I break down Pluto TV, U, and Tubi (TB) based on what actually matters in real-world use: library size, how good the titles are, ads per hour, and how annoying (or not) the UI is. Pluto TV comes last for me mainly because the interface winds me up—especially that autoplay box you can’t get rid of—and the catalogue didn’t really have loads that made me go “I need to watch that.” U is my personal favourite for quality (I literally cancelled Netflix and started using it), but it’s UK-only and the ads are heavier. Tubi takes number one overall because it’s got a massive library (40–60k titles), the fewest ads, and one of the best layouts—so it’s the easiest “free Netflix alternative” to recommend.
