In this video I fully review the Meizu mblu 22 Pro, and the headline is pretty wild: Android 15 out of the box, a 120Hz 6.79-inch display, a 5,000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera… for a $79 launch price. I also did a quick unboxing value comparison against the iPhone 13 Pro and OnePlus 13, because it genuinely shows how budget phones still give you the “full kit” experience. With the Meizu you get a case, power brick, cable and even a screen protector, which is just not the norm anymore. I go through the design and ports (yes, there’s a headphone jack), the fingerprint reader in the power button (not the fastest and not perfect, but usable), and the microSD expansion in the SIM tray. For cameras, I compared shots against the iPhone 13 Pro and OnePlus 13, and while the flagships win on depth/detail, I didn’t actually mind the Meizu photos for the money. Performance is where you feel the price. Geekbench came in at 405 single / 1355 multi, and even with 120Hz it can feel laggy in heavier apps. I also had app issues—ChatGPT in particular kept crashing for me—so that’s a real caveat. Overall, I’d recommend it for extreme budgets or as a child’s first smartphone, but not as a “fast and snappy” daily driver for heavy use.
