Today’s video is a special one from our hearts. Andy and I take a walk around an old home place that sits on the hay ground we still tend today. This land isn’t just fields and fences… it’s memories, stories, and generations of family that came before us. This place reminds us who we are and where we come from. Thank y’all for walking with us today. 🤍 #AppalachianStories #OldHomePlace #TrueGritAppalachianWays

About This Video

This evening Andy and I are down at one of our hay fields getting another load because we’ve about run out at home. While he’s loading, I’m walking the creek and getting my steps in, and I’m telling y’all why this spot means so much to our family. We’ve been tending this land 10 or 12 years, but it’s Andy’s old family place—his grandpa farmed here, Andy grew up here, and now our kids love it just the same. It’s quiet, tucked off the road, and it’s one of those places that grounds you—peace, connection, and the kind of “home” feeling you don’t forget. We take you over to the old home place and the outbuildings, and we talk through all the little signs of history—black walnut trees planted in a circle around the house, square nails, old mantels, a spiral staircase, and rock foundations that are still standing after all these years. We also share stories from tobacco days—plant beds, gassing for weeds, pack houses, and the pride folks had in their crop. Everywhere you turn over here, there’s something that makes you think of Grandpa, and walking it brings back a lot—some of it so sweet it’ll about make you cry.
