Today Andy’s out in the big fields — our potato patch and popcorn patch — turnin’ the land and getting it ready for winter. He plows, tills, and plants a hardy cover crop to help protect and enrich our heavy red clay soil through the colder months. Planting cover crops this time of year gives the soil a chance to rest, rebuild, and be ready for next season’s planting. These little steps now make a big difference come springtime. We love bringing y’all along for these everyday homestead chores here in the Appalachian hills.
