We started off with pancakes on the griddle, then got into a little winter food prep. I cut cabbage and made a batch of simple sauerkraut, while Andy and Jacob worked on an old plow we picked up. It's going to be Jacob’s very first restoration project for his tractor, and we’re excited to bring new life back into something with so much history. We wrapped up the day burning a brush pile that's been waiting 15 years to be gone — feels good to clear old things out and make room for what’s ahead. Thank y’all for being here with us, supporting our family, and sharing in these ordinary-but-good days. We’re grateful you’re here. 🤍 Pull up a chair anytime. — Meagan & Andy Kraut 2 tsp salt in the bottom of quart jar Pack with cabbage 1 tsp sugar on top Cover with water Let it work for 2-3 weeks Find the original Kraut recipe from Celebrating Appalachia here https://youtu.be/ra5Mgi6xqgg?si=E_Xisv4yYev3HQGe Sign up for our email newsletter “Musings from the Homestead” for stories, recipes & behind-the-scenes updates: https://truegritappalachianways.com Follow us on our official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/CJ5AgCV613gVgAbJ/?mibextid=LQQJ4d Join our Facebook community group!: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639624823908914 Shop our favorites here! https://truegritappalachianways.com/shop-my-favorites/ #homesteadlife #appalachianlife #truegritappalachianways #simpleliving #plowrestoration #sauerkraut #fromscratch #homemadefood #oldtools #homesteadkids
