Morning y’all—this one’s my new mornin’ routine, and it’s a whole lot different than my usual walk. We had three or four weeks of ice and snow coverin’ the trails where I normally go, so I was just doin’ little boring laps around the house when I could without skatin’ around. Now that things have eased up, I’ve switched gears and started milkin’ in the mornings—somethin’ I’ve never tried before. Since my new found full-time job is right here at home, I figured why not move milking to the morning and free up my evenings a bit. So far, so good—it’s been workin’ excellent. I already get up early by nature, so I come down when it’s light enough for me to see, and she’s gettin’ used to the routine. The last two mornings she’s even come up by herself, which is a big improvement, and I’m hopin’ that means the halter can come off in the next couple days. Andy also put me a bigger trough on, and that’s been a help keepin’ the cows from spillin’ so much and keepin’ them occupied. Once she’s done eatin’, I’m headin’ in to cook breakfast, start the school day, and roll on into the rest of the day.
