Andy starts the morning shelling corn we’ve saved for seed and sharpening the chainsaw before heading out to cut firewood. Inside, Meagan fixes a simple French toast lunch before the day keeps rolling along. Before it’s over, Andy builds Meagan another beautiful coat rack using his rough cut lumber. Thanks for spending part of your day with us. We’re so glad you’re here. ❤️ French toast is one of those recipes that takes me back to my childhood, it’s always been one of those ”comfort” recipes to me. Meagan’s Delcious French Toast 6-8 slices bread (Texas toast or sandwich bread) 3/4 cup milk 3 eggs 1 Tablespoon Sugar 1 tsp vanilla Pinch of salt 1 tsp cinnamon Pinch of nutmeg Combine all the above ingredients until smooth (no egg parts visible). Heat pan or griddle, butter it. Dip bread quickly coating each side fully and place on hot griddle. Cook each side until it’s slightly browned (2-3 min per side). Sprinkle with powdered sugar if you’d like and serve with syrup! Your family will be asking for more! 🍞 #AppalachianLiving #HomesteadLife #SimpleLiving #OldWays #CountryLife #FromScratch #FarmFamily #TrueGritAppalachianWays
