In this episode, we haul multiple chains of monkfish nets in worsening weather, with heavy waves hitting the boat from the side and turning every net into a serious challenge. Despite the conditions, the fishing stays strong throughout the day with plenty of BIG monkfish, constant problem-solving on deck, and some unexpected surprises along the way. We also end up catching several large halibut as bycatch, while trying to keep control of the boat and the nets in increasingly dangerous seas. Some of these hauls were EASILY the most stressful moments of the year, especially when the waves peaked and the nets refused to cooperate.
