This unit has all the features that you will need to take your videos and pictures. Lower swivel that allows you to move the ball head base in a 360. A cold shoe allows you to install a mic or light. The Ball has two notches that allow for 90 degree settings. The plate is securely locked in place with a second knob. The only two down sides to this unit are the lack of a D ring on the plate. This can be purchased separately. And the placement of the top knob is a little awkward.
