In this video I unbox and do a quick real-world test on the SeaFlo diaphragm pump (model SFDP1-033-45-D33). It’s a 120V AC pump that pulls about 1 amp and is rated for 45 PSI at 3.3 GPM, and I’m using it for a very specific goal: taking water from a storage tank and pressurizing it so I can feed a hot water heater for a shower setup. The big thing I needed here is consistent pressure, but also something that can shut itself off when I’m not actively using water. I show what comes in the box (barbed adapters, a filter, mounting hardware, and the manual), then I go over the basics on the pump itself—short power cord (about 3 ft), 1/2" NPT in/out ports, and rubberized feet to help with vibration when it’s mounted. For testing, I hook it to a 55-gallon drum in my shed and run a garden hose out as the “load.” Once plugged in, it immediately pressurizes the line, and I also test the auto on/off behavior by restricting flow (kinking the hose). The pump detects the no-flow condition and shuts off, then kicks back on when flow returns—exactly what I need for this off-grid-style water system project.
