2026 is here, so I figured we’d do something a little different and look back at all my non-train-room stuff from 2025—train shows, hauls, and a couple reviews mixed in. This is basically an all-day “buckle up” replay, starting early because I had about 10 hours of footage. I kick it off with the January DeLand show, then we bounce around to other stops like the Martin County (Stuart) show, The Villages show, and more. You’ll see what I always look for on the tables—HO, O, N, a little G and Z—plus the stuff on the floor in totes that everybody has to dig through. For me, the best part of any show is still watching the club layouts run. DeLand has that separate building with the club setups (and this time the Lego group showed up too), and then I always make time for the Volusia County Model Railroad Club layout in the barn—old-school DC HO, built mostly on donations and the members’ own pockets. If you ever go, tip their jar. Along the way I talk prices, how more vendors are taking credit cards/PayPal/Venmo now, and I’ll remind you of my usual rule: don’t spend too much money on stuff you don’t need… but spend it on what you want. Then it’s back to the regular Monday/Wednesday/Friday workbench schedule.
